Anybody notice the days are longer? It's almost 7 o'clock and still somewhat light outside.

It's always an uplifting sign, isn't it? This coming weekend is Daylight Savings, right?

Re: Days getting longer
That's right, we switch the clocks forward for Sunday March 11th, earlier and earlier every year. Makes me wonder if they're planning to slowly do away with fall back.

Re: Days getting longer
It's always the second Sunday in March & the first Sunday in November. So it just depends on what day the month starts. Next year DST will begin on the 10th.

Re: Days getting longer
I hate daylight savings time. Here in Canada we have longer twilight's than most of the US. Then they give us more daylight in the summer when it stays light until 10:00 PM. Then they reverse the procedure in the fall, and many working people never see the daylight until spring again. Then we know the lack of light affects a lot of people adversely, so it doesn't make sense for Canada to continue with daylight savings time. We really don't need it as farms are now huge automated outfits anyway. People aren't getting up at 4AM and working until dark any more.

It was always to my understanding that Daylight Savings Time was started so people could play golf longer in the day. Never made much sense to me, but okay.

Even though it's been a mild winter compared to the last few years I'm looking forward to spring. Just hope there's not as much rain.

Re: Days getting longer
We have another month or so of this, and it'll be warm again. This winter season has pretty much been a joke. Old man Winter himself seemed to have slept through it.

Re: Days getting longer
It must get dark earlier up north. It has been light out well after six for a couple weeks here.RedBedroom wrote:It's so exciting to have it so light until almost six!!
I have been missing the six o'clock news because I was waiting for it to get dark then noticed it was after six.

Re: Days getting longer
It is staying light here now to {drum roll} 5:00! In the middle of winter it gets dark at 4:00., if any time change they should give us 2 hours extra day time in the winter.
