Re: Rejecting a gift
Just at Christmas, I kind of did. There is a woman up by Dad's that was very mean to my mom shortly before she passed away. She never even apologized and she was totally in the wrong. So I wrote her off and will never be her friend again. Well, at Christmas, Dad said she had made us a blanket for Christmas and wanted to bring it by. I said I would not accept it and that he should tell her that.

Yes. Didn't want it, could've been given to someone who could use it.

Nope. Offer me a gift and I'll take it....provided that they're no strings.

Yea, a friend of mine bought me Janet's live in Hawaii concert DVD, not knowing I already owned it. She was crazy, I told her thanks but I already have it, she got upset, took it back, and said "Fine, I just won't get you anything again". I'm no longer friends with this chick.

Re: Rejecting a gift
If I get a gift I don't like, or is a duplicate of something I already have, I usually just remain cordial and thank the person. Then, at a later date, I'll re-gift it to someone else who I know has no association with the original gift-giver, so there's no chance of it being found out that I did that.

Re: Rejecting a gift
My boss gives me little touristy gifts all the time that I have no use for. I just put them in my junk drawer and eventually may find someone who would like it - or the thrift shop.
My co-worker gave me one of those HUGE ceramic Xmas mugs with candy in it. Now it is in my junk closet.
Maybe I should bag all this stuff up for a trip to the thrift shop.
I really don't need anything and dread that ppl will give me gifts. I accept them graciously but would have preferred they not bothered.

Re: Rejecting a gift
Most people I would not accept a gift from probably wound't give me anything.
On the other hand I have given gifts to folks who completely disgust me just to annoy the hell out of them..then one time it blew u in my face and she thought I was flirting and we ended up dating for a few months...WTF?

Come to think of it, yes. When I got old enough to understand the situation, I stopped cashing the birthday checks my father's mother sent.

Re: Rejecting a gift
Yes it was a gift of money from a friend. I returned it because I knew he was low on money and unemployed and I explained that when he got a job he owed me a dinner.
