Fender bender question Empty Fender bender question

Yes this happened to me the other day, and I was the bumper, not the bumpee.

Okay, if another car bumps into your back tire and the damage is a couple scratches on the hubcap and a millimeter wide gap where the bumper hooks on, how serious do you consider the damage to be? And would you qualify that as being HIT instead of bumped?

Personally, I'd smile, laugh a bit and say it is nice it wasn't worse...wish the bumper a good day and call it even..

Yeah, our car has had a lot of stuff happen to it but when it comes to getting hit, can't nothing hurt our car. And personally, damages that minor I don't think I'd even notice, or if I did, it wouldn't matter much to me. Apparently though that was NOT the case with the owners of the other car.

I'm still not sure what you mean. Did you bump someone or did someone bump into you?

I bumped the back tire and side bumper of a couple's car trying to pull into a space in a crowded parking lot. I got out, checked for dents, checked for scratches in the paint, it never occurred to me to check the hubcap for scratches.

I was in a car accident about two weeks ago. What you did is nothing. What they're trying to do is get money out of you or get your insurance to fix it. They prob. can buff out the scratches. I don't know how it is in your state, but most states have a no fault law in place. Basically, you either pay for their damages, or let your insurance pay for it.

And the insurance said since the police weren't even called out and the damage was so minor, that it's nothing. Now the people who own the other car are from Canada, so they weren't quite sure HOW the whole thing works here, but our insurance said if when they get home they decide to make something of it, then it'll be dealt with then, but it seems unlikely.
