I ride a bike and have to use public transportation if something is out of my bike range. But my range is 10 miles, which gets me to downtown Miami in about the same time as a bus.

I use it when I don't feel like driving or when I want to conserve gas.

If I worked in the city I would probably use it but I don't so I drive.

I never do in my city because it sucks and doesn't have a stop in my suburb anyway. I always use it when I am visiting a larger city.

Yes for work, its not practical to drive into Manhattan on a daily basis.

When I'm on the east coast (New York, Philly, DC, etc) I use public transportation because it's convenient and cheap. But out here on the west coast where I live, there is no really good, reliable or cheap public transportation system. Public transportation in LA is a joke and the BART up in the bay area is hella expensive! It's actually more economical and realistic to drive even with gas being over $4 a gallon!Chris wrote:Do you use public transportation? More economical than driving in Northern IL. I mean even if just figuring gas, tires and maintenance. Add the fully allocated costs (IRS approved business rate 50 cents/mile) even more. And the speed is comparable on the trains. The chance to read.

The transit here sucks, always problems on a daily basis. If you have an appointment at 12pm and are planning to take mass transit then make sure you are on a 9am train cause chances are you ain't gonna make that appointment if you leave later.
