Are there any failing malls in your area?

The closest thing to a mall on Miami Beach is Lincoln Road and I did notice a few empty storefronts - but they are all over the city too so I don't know if it is failing.

Some empty stores in them but seeing that in shopping centers too.

Sadly, yes. The downtown mall that was the most popular mall in the area a decade ago sat empty for years. It was quite the thing in our city because people all argued what the best use was. Ideally, they wanted it to be a business center. Now it has been purchased by an insurance company to put their headquarters there. But they are tearing it down and rebuilding.

Just a block away from us there is a dead mall, that's one that not only ailed but died as well. Funny thing was that it was once the liveliest of the 2 malls in town. Then it lost 2 anchor stores, one chose to not try to compete with the new Walmart, the other build a much bigger store right across the street from Walmart and has done just fine. We have heard that the new owners of the mall are not renewing contracts with the few stores still there. They are continually working on the roof, but nothing is being done to the inside of the mall and it is slowly crumbling.

Losing those anchor can be almost guaranteed death to a mall.

Not the whole mall, no.

There is one mall in my area that has been closed for about 6 or 7 years. It might reopen within in a year.

They tore one down recently (Cloverleaf) that had been closed for years now. It's sad to see it gone, even though there were unsolved murders committed there in the 90s. It just wasn't safe; too much gang activity.

There's another one not too far from Cloverleaf (Virginia Center Commons) that's on it's way out, even though folks are kinda mum on it. We all know once the anchor stores leave and they start replacing them with shit like Burlington...it's almost time. Besides, they don't have AC in the summer.

Our mall is doing ok, it ain't what it used to be but it's doing alright. They got rid of arcade and movie theater and the food court sucks now too, getting rid of both orange julius AND chick-fil-a!! They are CRAZY!!

No they all appear to be thriving here.
