| Not just Starbucks.
Most red drinks are colored with Cochineal or Carmine (Now go look at all your red-colored drinks and snacks for those words) which comes from a beetle in Central America. It has been used for centuries by the Mayan and was one of the first exports from the New World to Europe.
So, when the Boy Scouts call their red fruit punch drink "Bug Juice" it is not wrong. | |

| I heard this before, about crushed bugs being used to enhance food color. Sickening as it may sound, I'm sure they go through some kind of process to do it. They're not just grabbing roaches off the pest strip and throwing them into the blender. | |
