I can't whip up a five course meal or anything, but I think I'm decent. You won't starve at my house, at least I won't.

I'm getting back into cooking again after a long absence. Got in the habit of using so much convenience food. I just need to remember basic things like avoiding over or under cooking. And not leaving the pot holder IN the oven. But it's coming back to me.

LOL, I guess I will co-sign on that one. I don't cook as much as I should, but I can get down when I want. Baking is my thing though. I can make the best cakes and pies in the world. I don't do that as much of that either.

I'm from the south, so you know I can cook. That doesn't mean I love to do it everyday because I don't, but when I get in that mood, I'll have folks licking the plate! Smile

If cooking and microwaving are the same thing, then the answer is yes.

I am excellent cook. My deal is that I am cheap. So, I only break out the better shit for company and don't prepare all that fancy during the week.

I think I'm decent. Nowhere near gourmet, but I won't have people scrapping the burnt off their food or rinsing their mouths out with water.

I saw a report on MSN that says 1/3 of Americans can't cook, the reasons being varied between not knowing how to, not wanting to clean up the mess (who does?), not having the time, and having someone else to do it for them. It's been said before but, when you see things like this it's really not much of a surprise that our country has the obesity problem it does.

Now, I'm like the others, I can't cook anything fancy or necessarily GREAT, or rather I haven't tried my hand at that stuff yet, but I do know how to cook enough to get by on: potato soup, lasagna, spaghetti, baked chicken, mashed potatoes, burgers, meatloaf, poached eggs (fried pink)...though I seem to do better on desserts, that's something everybody loves, when I make cookies or a scratch cake or when I help my mother with the pies.

    RIGHT ON!

I used to cook when I was married and had kids in the house (wife worked evenings) I used to cook for 10 - 14 when working at the group home.

Now I live alone and just cook entrees or small things in the microwave. But, it is probably like riding a bike - you never forget.
