At what age does "middle age" begin?
Anybody know when that officially starts? Thought it was over 40 but some say 30's.

Over 40 is usually considered middle age as not too many ppl even make it to 80 if you want to be literal.
I used to keep making the number higher but over 50 is really pushing it as very few make it to a hundred.
So eventually you have to admit to being old. Thanx for bringing that to my attention kid!

I don't give shit when it began. I'm more concerned with when it ends.

Therefore, middle age is figured at the half-way point, once you know when you're going to croak. .. sort of depressing, if you happen to know when you're going to kick off.

But just think of all the senior discounts and early-bird specials that you'll get. . . the world is your oyster. LOL (and you can sit on park benches, feeding the pigeons while picking your nose up to your elbow, and no one will even care or think twice about it, but try that while your young. . ..)

Re: At what age does "middle age" begin?
According to Collins Dictionary, this is "... usually considered to occur approximately between the ages of 40 and 60". The current edition of the Oxford English Dictionary gives a similar definition but with a shorter span: "The period of life between young adulthood and old age, now usually regarded as between about forty-five and sixty." The US Census lists middle age as including both the age categories 35 to 44 and 45 to 54, while prominent social scientist, Erik Erikson, sees it ending a little later and defines middle adulthood as between 40 and 65.
