If someone commits suicide, after confiding in another person that they were going to, and yet that other person did nothing to try and stop them – like alert someone – do you think they (the person who knew) should face any kind of charges? They didn't assist the victim, but they didn't try and prevent it. Would you consider that another form of aiding and abetting?

No way. It is impossible to know if anyone is serious and them confessing it to someone should not make that person culpable in any way.

Might be worth a "civil" suite but definitely not a criminal charge. Really what it boils down to is that no one is responsibility for another persons life, especially if they're grown.

No. I wouldn't want them for a friend but they're not responsible. Not unless they're a doctor and the victim was under their care.

Not from a legal standpoint, no. I think it's morally wrong to not talk to them but there shouldn't be laws in place about it.
