Oh, wow, Tony! There IS someone else out there who knows this movie! It's one of my favorite old spook-suspense flicks. I've been wanting to buy a copy but it's very hard to find without paying a fortune. Even Netflix doesn't have it available for rent.

I loved the movie as well, Tallulah was at her most evil! I heard Stephenie Powers said Tallulah was drunk every day she was on set filming the movie LOL.
Amazon has it used, I have bought used movies from them before and they are just as good as new. Click where it says Used.

The story goes that during the filming of Hitchcock's "Lifeboat"
...several crew members noted that Tallulah Bankhead was not wearing underwear. When advised of this situation, Alfred Hitchcock observed, "I don't know if this is a matter for the costume department, makeup, or hairdressing."
There are also slightly different versions of this story.
One version holds that
when Bankhead met Chico Marx at a party before her reputation had overturned the presumption that William B. Bankhead's daughter would be disgusted by Marx's typically crude (yet generally effective) approach. According to Dick Cavett, after Marx had been cautioned to be on his best behavior with Bankhead, the two first spoke at the punch bowl.
"Miss Bankhead." "Mr. Marx." And, as everyone breathed a sigh of relief, Chico told her, "You know, I really want to fuck you." She replied, "And so you shall, you old-fashioned boy."
