Have you ever taken a leave of absence from work? If so, what was the reason for it?

Other than requesting a day or 2 off? No, never taken a leave of absence.

Other than FMLA our co. doesn't allow leave of absence. Just paid time off then back to work.

When I was younger I would leave work and travel for months, then come back and apply for a new job at the same place. The places had such bad work conditions that they had a running ad for help. So, on 3 different occasions at a place in S. Fl and two at a place in New Orleans I did that for a few years.

No I haven't, but my job does allow it.

well... because i am a federal employee, we do not get paid state disability. if we do not have enough vacation time or sick time to cover things such as hospitals stays, car accidents, and maternity leave, it is all without pay and therefore a leave of absence.

I think I would have to present a really compelling argument to keep them from seeking out a permanent replacement.

I worked for someone else during my maternity leave. That was really the only time. And they were complete jerks about it. I had to go in one day during my maternity leave because I was the only one certified to assist in dental surgery at the hospital and they had a hospital case come up.

So, then when I needed an extra day because my son couldn't begin daycare until a Tuesday when he was officially six weeks old, they made me come in that Monday. Thirteen years later and I'm still pissed!

Never taken one, though I can. Thinking very hard about using one because I'm at my wits end with my boss
