How do you feel about fraternization policies at work? Do you feel they are sensible, or do they infringe on personal rights?

Have you ever been personally involved with a supervisor or co-worker and had to keep quiet about it?

I feel they are sensible. We have a no fraternization policy involving guests, which let me tell ya, there have been a few guests I wish I would have been able to fraternize with, but kept it professional. Smile It's not an issue I'm really pressed with since I tend to keep my work and personal life separate.

No, I've never been personally involved with a supervisor or co-worker.

IDK if I ever worked at a place with a no-frat policy or if I just ignored it.

I was a young security guard at a large general hospital out of New Orleans and ended up in bed with several nurses (one male). That is also where I had an affair with 'Mrs R' who worked as a switchboard operator.

I met my future wife at work and we were soon sharing the same abode, so apparently there was no policy against fraternizing at that place.

I think it infringes on personal freedom to tell ppl they can't get close just because they work at the same company.

I have never personally had to deal with such a policy. And I have never heard of a company taking it too far. Though I am sure that has happened.

It really depends on the job. For the most part, I don't think a company should tell people who they can and cannot date....but if such fraternizing causes an extreme conflict of interest, then I can understand it. I've slept with co-workers before, no supervisors.

Yes I was involved with a co-worker once and the place had a no fraternization policy that neither of us knew about. When it became obvious to our manager, he told me that we either couldn't work together on the same shift any longer or one of us could be transfered to another store. I opted for the transfer. Really I see nothing wrong with co-workers being involved, it's managers and employees that I think creates a possible conflict.

I'm pretty sure my job would frown on it, but in the 3 months I've been there I have flirted, "fraternized" and ultimately fucked with a few.... But I'm slick, so right now I'm good. In general though I understand why those policies are in place, but let's be real....if 2 people wanna mess with each other that's not gonna stop them.

If that's the policy, that's the policy. They didn't need a law to make me wear my seatbelt and they don't need a rule to keep me from dating a co-worker.

I'm in the military and there is no such thing as "personal rights" in the military. Fraternization policies exist for a reason in my line of work and I agree with them the way they are for the most part.

Interestingly, I had a crush on a Major Zatinski when I was stationed at Ft. Meade, working at NSA. Not only was she an older woman, she was an officer and I was enlisted. So, I just lusted after her in silence. She was sooo hot in her form fitting dress blues - so unattainable.

I also had the hots for the snack bar girl but too insecure to hit on a black woman. Good thing too. It was still illegal for a white boy to hit on a black girl before June '67 when I got out of the Air Force. Of course being a young man I didn't know of those miscegenation laws or care.

it is the policy in my work... but in my building it is not enforced. The supervisors run with everyone, and even marry employees---or get them pregnant. In my work, we work 10-12 hr days, usually 6days a week, so we spend more time with eachother than we do at home... only makes sense for us to be involved with each other... we all know everything there is to know about one another---it is like living in a small southern town! LOL
