Does it bother you when somebody you're close to likes a certain kind of music or artist you can't stand? I tolerate it IRL but I will admit to occasionally unfollowing people on social networks for making favorable references to acts I can't stand.

My co-worker is close to me and plays the same music repeatedly. On the old computer I had speakers and would put in a disc to drown it out but now I only have some weak internal speakers. She keeps it low, but I really got irritated when I found myself humming the piece that I hate because it had imprinted in my brain from repetition. That's the only time I get upset with music I don't like.

For the most part I don't care. I'll just tune their music out if it's playing, or not engage them in conversation about whoever it is.

I tune it out and make it known that I don't like that particular artist(s).

Tolerate it for as long as I can. Sucks, one of my closest cousins loves her some heavy metal. I CAN'T STAND IT! She knows how I feel about it and won't play it for too long while I'm around. It's funny cause she knows when I've had enough of it, then will switch it to something we both enjoy. She also gives me a warning when she's about to play it as well. Gotta love her
My ma loves country, which I can't stand either, but I can tolerate that better than heavy metal.

That was the case with I and my first husband. I hated his Country music and he hated my blues, so we simply didn't play what we liked when the other was around. It worked out.
But in recent years I have learned to like Country.

This. Most people I know are on the same level as me musically for the most part.

It doesn't bother me for the most part unless I'm forced to be around them all day everyday and they want to play their music only.
I had to solve this problem with my brother. We don't even drive together anymore, even if we're going to the same place.

I have a rather diverse and sometimes odd taste in music, so it's pretty hard to find music I hate, let alone someone I know who is into music I hate
