I think now it's called "being added as a contact", if you accept the invite then they can basically spam you with videos they want viewed. I get emails every day saying so and so sent me a video. Never watch them.

I think I got a scam email today. It read something like the video I submitted had been uploaded. I've never submitted a video.

I just received an e-mail saying "GhettoFlameOG has sent you a message" I clicked on the youtube link and it's them performing live I guess.
I don't know how they were able to send me an e-mail since I never subscribed to them. I have no clue who these guys are.
