Are you a fan of the wood paneled walls look? Would you want your place paneled with wood or do you prefer plaster?

I actually like the room in the picture you posted. I think you have to have plaster walls behind your paneling or the paneling is going to warp. I like the look but not for the entire house, I have it in my Den, its very rustic looking and kind of manly LOL.

Re: Wood paneling
I prefer drywall over paneling and plaster.

Re: Wood paneling
i like the picture, but that is a higher quality of paneling. when i see the cheap 70s era type of panel, the first thing i think is "how bad are the sheet rock walls behind the panel? what are they hiding? are there major holes that should have been re-sheet rocked?
as soon as i see a house on the market with paneled/ or popcorned walls/ceilings, i assume there is damage they are trying to hide.

Re: Wood paneling
I despise it!!! It makes a room look dreary and I just don't like the look. My brother's family has that and it drives me crazy. So let me just get plastered!

Agreed. I would never have wood panel walls in my house. Reminds me of linament and moth balls.

I like the look. I could never have it in every room, but it can look good. My parents' livingroom has wood panel.

Re: Wood paneling
My basement is largely wood paneled. A single room is ok but it couldn't be a recurring theme throughout the house. After a while wood begins to dry out, decay and develop an odor.
