| How often do you catch these outta nowhere? I remember when I was with my ex and we were getting it in and all of a sudden, he caught a cramp in the back of his thigh. At first I thought he screamed out of pleasure...but it was out of pain. | |

| I don't know if it's an actual charlie horse but I occasionally get cramps in the bottoms of my feet. Sucks. Guess I need more potassium. | |

| I'm not sure if it's a "Charlie Horse," but I notice that whenever I jump from a high place and land on my feet, some odd and slightly painful sensation will momentarily travel up my legs. | |

That could be a tendon pain more than a cramped muscle.
I get the occasional 'charlie horse' or muscle cramps in my gastrocnemius (calves - another weird name). Often get them in my sleep and it wakes me up. Pulling the foot back at the toes helps relieve it, but just have to wait until it subsides. The pulling must do some muscle damage because many times it will hurt the next day.
I also sometimes get a cramp in my abs with certain movement (often triggered by taking off my shoes).

Hubby suffers a great deal from nasty cramps he gets them all over his body. Potassium helped a lot, then the pharmacist suggested a bit more calcium might help. It too has helped. Mind you though he is never entirely free of them, as I left the bedroom this morning I saw him leap from bed trying to stretch the cramp out of his leg. He asked doctors about it all his life none had any suggestions. Finally a few years ago one suggested testing his electrolytes. The test came back as normal but I thought Gatorade, that helped a while, then our son suggested tomatoes have more potassium than Gatorade. So he drinks a lot of V-8, and now a couple of extra calcium tablets, and it seems to reduce the number of cramps h has. I think it is because he (like our son) grew so fast as a teen, all his muscles seem long and tight. Oh and orange juice is high in potassium too, as long as you aren't diabetic.

Still seems a strange name disparity having a charlie 'horse' in your 'calf.'
Why not call it a 'Charlie Calf?'
Or call it your 'horse muscle'

| I experience one about 2 weeks ago. All you can do is stretch your leg and wait for the pain to stop. | |

| I've gotten Charley horses in my leg quite a few times, had to wake up and stand on it (or walk around) until it slowly tapered off. | |

Next time try pulling back on the foot at the toes if it is in a calf muscle. That is a specific move for that kind of cramp and eases the pain quickly.
