We've had some discussions before about if you're out driving and notice a car following you everywhere you go, okay, but what would you do if you noticed the car that's right behind you and takes all the same turns you do is a cop car?
I'm actually surprised that nobody's brought this up here yet, there have been reports of people in Mississippi being shot in their cars after being pulled over by a fake cop, presumably fake anyway. So the police are saying if an unmarked car puts on its lights, do not pull over, call 911, have them verify if a car IS in the area, if not, they'll get someone out there, etc. Nice to see that the police are giving the situation the seriousness it deserves, I'm sure if we had something similar here you would still get in trouble for not pulling over when you're told to.
But anyway, a few weeks ago we had a little excitement here ourselves; three men my age broke out of prison and went on the lam, including one who's been in prison for 5 years for murder. They were the county below us and we were all saying 'what if we see them? What if they come through here?', not really thinking they would but still...and the day before the last one, the murderer, was recaptured, I went out to the store and as soon as I leave my block I see the sheriff's car right behind me. No lights or sirens, but still not a view I'm fond of having in my mirror. Go down straight for five blocks, still there, turn right, still there, turn left, still there, FINALLY I turned and he went in another direction but all the same I thought that was creepy.
Now a sheriff, that would I guess be a different story together, but if a cop car was following me, I do not think I would pull over if they said to, instead I think I would keep driving to the police station to make sure that it's the genuine article and not somebody else playing policeman looking for victims. It's not unusual to hear about sickos who dress up as cops to fool people, but I've also heard of some who buy decommissioned police cars at auctions to make it look like the real deal.
How about everyone else? If a black and white was following you everywhere you went, no matter where you went, what would you do?
