Remember back in the days of the 80's and 90's when you could count on good quality, entertaining cartoons that lasted from 8am to noon? Why did these days go away?

I remember first were the Flintstones and the Jetsons and Scooby Doo on one channel, and then on another there would be Reboot, and Skeleton Warriors, Double Dragon, Beethoven, and though it's not a cartoon, Power Rangers came on Saturday morning as well. Though of them all, Reboot was the only cartoon from the 90s that we saw at that time that I actually liked.

To clarify/amend my statement about them being more intelligent, I meant there was more to them that adults could find funny too.

I dunno, but I was always eager to get up early on Saturday to catch my cartoons and eat my cereal with ice cold milk. I feel sorry for today's kids.

Not all cartoons were necessarily meant to be "funny" (ie: GI Joe, Transformers). In my humble opinion, the 80's was the best era for cartoons overall because in addition to the classic 60-70's cartoons that were still running by then, newer comedic cartoons were added in the 80's as well as action cartoons! Most of them had some kind of moral or message at the end of the show as well. I think the 80's provided the most variety of cartoons of any era. The shows at that point in time provided entertainment for younger children, teenagers, and adults. And for the first time there were cartoons that specifically targeted girls (Rainbow Bright, My Little Pony, JEM, She-Ra, etc). I think that I could argue that the 1980's had the most "intelligent" line-up of Saturday morning cartoons of any decade.

Lol. I remember NOT liking Jem, but I watched it every week because my female cousin LOVED that damn show, lol. But hey, she had to suffer through GI: Joe so I guess that was fair!
