Partly because men don't mind two women together especially in porn as long as they don't look like Rosie O'Donnell. It feeds some fantasy or ego thing I guess. And truthfully I think some DO like the idea of two men but don't want to acknowledge it. It's almost always the loudest homophobes...sooner or later.

Also, in our culture women are allowed to be more affectionate. Women can kiss each other and go unnoticed but two men kissing gets a reaction. Males are s'posed to slap each other on the back and hit each other in the arm. That is the only affection allowed (well 300 pound football players can tap butts - who's gonna make an issue of it?)

And why is that? I've wondered for many years and haven't found anybody with an answer to explain it yet.

Cultural gender role assignment in the US. Probably from some innate nurturing responses of women and innate combativeness of men. Most mammals are so divided that males compete more and females bond more.
Then you have two males who hug (or more) and it is seen as an attack on the whole of human existence.
Exceptions being the Greeks and particularly the Spartans who saw two male warriors in a relationship as an advantage in battle.

The people who truly dislike and disagree with homosexuality....trust and belive....gay men and women are judged the SAME.

For those idiots who judge gay people in general...I think they think gay men are just "wrong" while lesbians "could be converted if they had a real man."
I don't agree with any of it, but I have seen this with many.

There is another possibility, men get turned on by watching two women together I guess because they're picturing themselves coming in and making it a threesome, which leads me to believe there are a lot of men in the world who spend too much time watching those cheap dirty movies on cable every night.

No doubt men are turned on by girl on girl. But I think even females are too often under the impression lesbians just haven't had the "right" man yet.

OMG!!! I swear you are my long lost sister! I was going to type the same thing. Guys watch two woman having sex, and get excited. I dont understand this... because if they are HAPPY with each other, what do they need the guy for??? But the male ego says he will convert them--- but only if they are hot! LOL
I think one more thing is... and i hate to sound offensive in any way... but some homosexual men seem more feminine... while many lesbians, unless they are truly butch looking, do not "appear" gay.
I worked at JCPenney in the mens suits department, and worked with a very dear friend (after 15yrs we are still friends). He would fit people for suit alterations, but i did not know how. One day a woman with an 12yr old boy came to me and said that it was obvious my co-worker was gay, and she did not want "his hands on my boy". I tried to explain to her that not only did i NOT do fittings and he was excellent, but that he was a very decent man and should not be judged that way. She went on and on. I then tried to rationalize, "your son will be more comfortable with a man taking his inseam than a woman". She told me, "Im going to take my business elsewhere". I responded, "Good. Thank you and have a nice day." I never told my friend about this incident... but it was the first time that i ever saw a blatant prejudice against homosexuals. Now i work for the post office, where it seems like sexual orientation is as equally distributed as ethinicity! and honestly, i love it --- hate the job... love the people

It makes me so absolutely sick to my stomach when people think gay equals being attracted to minors. Ugh, just sick. I don't use the word, "hate" often, but I hate people who are so ignorant about homosexuality.
I can not even imagine what it would be like to walk out my door every day knowing I would be judged by the person I love. It just makes me ill.
I live in a city where "men are men" and the "good ol' boys club hates gay men." Makes me absolutely ill. So many men here are in the closet because they can't imagine the fallout over coming out in such a conservative environment. They are continually in my nightly prayers.
My friend, Jess, a lesbian, is also in the closet. And I have found myself being a bit unfair about her orientation. And for my backward thoughts, I am regretful. I guess I just thought for years it should/would be easier for her to come out because she is female. She is in local law enforcement and made the choice long ago to not come out. I know her through a friend who came out to me. Jess's refusal to come out lead to a break up of her and my friend.

I can't blame her because if I was a cop I wouldn't admit to ANYTHING. I took a police course when I was in college, and I think I mentioned this, I was the only person in the class who was NOT a cop, thank God it was all online, I can't imagine attending that classroom but I guess they couldn't either because I think we were all attending online...but anyway with the textbooks we had to read for that I found out a lot about how women on the force get treated by their male partners and that's even when there's nothing about them to attack other than the fact that they're women. I can just imagine what would've happened to them if any of them would've come out as lesbians. Though I sure would love to know why so many men hate women in any kind of position of authority.

Yeah, I hope Jess finally finds peace. She is still in the closet. I don't see her now after the break up, as her girlfriend was more my friend and I knew Jess through her gf.

that's sad. coming out should not be difficult... it shouldnt even be "coming out" if u know what i mean. Why should someone tell their orientation... when the aforementioned friend and i first met, he kept talking about this "man i met at temple... he is from taiwan... and we are going to dinner tomorrow.. etc" I assumed from his demeanor that he was gay... but i asked a co-worker, "Is he jewish?" she said she did not know. I asked, "is he gay?" she laughed and said yes. Then i went and told him. I didnt want him to think i was talking about him. He started laughing so hard... "I just figured you knew i was gay... and he i was going on and on about my friend. But why do you think im jewish?" Cause he met the guy at "Temple". He laughed again ... and said, "The college! I take night courses!" it was actually really funny.
but just as he thought there was no reason to actually state his orientation, i dont think anyone needs to. JUST BE WHO YOU ARE!!!
