Re: Ice Skating
As a kid I wanted to learn how but there was never any place around here to learn it, and these days I'm not too anxious to strap a couple of blades on my feet to skate around in.

Re: Ice Skating
The ice skating rink was the place to go to in junior high, I was never any good though.
As far as watching, only time I was interested in watching was during the whole Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding mess when I was younger.

Re: Ice Skating
I never took the time to do either ice or roller enough not to not fall down. But gracefully!

Re: Ice Skating
I've seen some badass moves from Johnny Weir but other than that it bores the hell outta me.

Re: Ice Skating
I respect the sport and the precision it takes to be a great ice skater, but it's one of those things that has to already be playing on TV when I casually come across it.

Re: Ice Skating
I could roller skate when I was young but never could ice skate.
I love watching figure skating and any skating performance on TV. I used to go to Stars on Ice and Champions on Ice when they came to my city but Champions no longer exists and Stars has stared skipping us.
In 2004 the American Figure Skating competition was held in my town and the skaters stayed at the hotel across the street from where I worked. I saw Michelle Qwan leave the hotel on afternoon with some very adoring pre-teenage girls following her.
When she realized they were there, she stopped and chatted with them. I'm sure she gave autographs. I thought that was really nice of her.

I learned how to roller skate first, Ice skating was a little harder but I learned how and I liked it. I watch Figure skating on TV whever I see it on.

Re: Ice Skating
Never ice-skated in my life.
Do enjoy watching it during the Olympics but admittedly get tired of it. There are Olympic competitions that I'd like to watch but are not televised.

As far as me skating goes, I do enjoy doing it, although I'm not that good. Ice skating is harder than roller skating/rollerblading and I'm not even particularly good at those. But whenever the opportunity presents itself, I do try to get around to an ice skating rink where I always inevitably try to impress my friends by attempting a triple axel, lol. I bust my ass at least three or four times every time I go ice skating, but it's still fun.
