I've had one off & on since the 1970s when I traveled to Centro America and to India.
Used to be you could take a cruise in the Caribbean with just a drivers license but now it requires a passport. You should probably get one because if you decide you DO want to take a trip, it may takes months to get the passport.

Only one that expired about 30 years ago. Maybe longer than that. I got it in 1973.

Yes I do have a passport, and I'll always keep a passport. I'm not afraid to travel. There is a great big old world besides the United States and I want to see it.

I have one but it expired about 3 years or so ago.It doesn't matter much as I don't plan to be crossing any borders again.

Supernova.. they are from the US State Dept, and therefore the rules are all the same from state to state. 10 yrs no matter where in the US u get it.
In NJ, we have to go through sooo much crap to get a license, that having a passport made it sooo much easier to renew my license.

Another benefit of having a passport. It's better than having a regular ID.

Years ago when I left the U.S., I was able to use my birth certificate. I went to Nassau and Cancun.

its changed since then... they even want to make it so that you need to swipe the barcode on your license to cross state lines/bridges

I got one in 2000 when I traveled to England. I renewed it in 2010 mostly because I need it when I visit my sister in Canada. But it's good ID for domestic travel as well.

You need a passport to cross all boarders people. When I went to Mexico in February, I couldn't get back into the country without it. Unless you were going to the Caribbean, then you could just get the card...but if you ever plan on leaving the United States of America, get a passport. And they're just so much better to have as ID too.
