It may seem like an odd question, but are you a fan of British people/culture? Do you like their accents? If you have never visited or lived in the UK, would it be a consideration for you?

Re: The British
I have a young Welsh cyberfriend that I've communicated with for years. However, he may not be typical and now spends more time in the Middle East with his lover than he does in Wales. But when we first 'met' on MySpace he ran a pub in Wales.
I spent a day in London on one of my travels, it was nice and I'd like to go back to visit. I could live there about like any U.S. state in the temperate zone - wouldn't like the weather.

Re: The British
I'm not a fan, but I would love to visit. I like their accents, but it their voices have the potential to be annoying. I would imagine living in London would be like living the US....my boy lived there for a year when he was working for UBS Paine Webber and he said it isn't much difference....so I could live there if I had to. Their dental plan obviously sucks though. I'd sooner move to Canada.

Re: The British
No I am not. Never have I traveled to the UK but I have known a handful of Brits personally and I found them to be eccentric and rude.

Re: The British
I'm ambivalent towards the Brits. I think it was Churchill who said we're two peoples separated by a common language.

Re: The British
I visited a friend in the UK and we traveled all over. I loved it. I really enjoy British theater and TV. I have another Brit friend with whom I email pretty frequently.

Re: The British
One thing I definitely don't get is the American fascination with the "royals". They're like the pre-Kardashians. Other than have the press follow them around & involve themselves in idiotic escapades, WTF do they DO?

Re: The British
I love the british comedies... they are so much more witty and sarcastic than ours.
i think people are fascinated with the royals the same way they were with the kennedys---- tragedy, triumph... money... sex ... scandal. and yet they persist. The kardashians i do not understand at all.. i could not name any of them... i cant even tell u what they look like-- i just have no interest

Re: The British
When I was a teen boy, I collected stamps & coins of the British Commonwealth and kinda had a crush on Queen Elizabeth. This portrait in particular:CeCe wrote:One thing I definitely don't get is the American fascination with the "royals". ...
The fact that our family has a lot of English in lineage and the queen at that time looked a lot like my mom, could probably do a chapter in someone's psych thesis. I may have been a weird child.
As a matter of fact, I kinda forget that 'Mrs R' my older lover was from Scotland. She had very English features but had no accent as she was in the U.S. since the end of WWII.

Sooo much of what we watch is a remake of British TV shows. I've never bothered to discuss Python around here because I figured no one else cared for it.

Re: The British
I am very much a fan of British history. I like the refined British Accents not the chutney where you can't understand a word they say. England is about 5 or 6 on my list of places to visit.

Re: The British
Not particularly. It's a little "dignified" and vanilla for my tastes.
