Stalking, TO A DEGREE (bold because ppl misread what you write) is natural in our species. We hunt. I have referred to it in several contexts, including the delight of seeing human footprints and knowing that another of our kind is afoot in the vicinity.
Have you ever 'accidentally' run into a person of interest because you were there on the street where they lived? That is stalking. I have placed myself in the vicinity to raise the possibility of running into someone.
That is not the same as hiding in the bushes and secretly obsessing over stalking someone. That differentiates the pathological stalking, which the word has now taken. No, I have never stalked anyone who hasn't expressed an interest in me as well. And I think those chance meetings that Brenda and I had on the campus where we both worked were probably arranged by both of us.

LOL, the one time I can think I "stalked" someone was on IMDb. If I've ever been stalked, my stalker did a good job of hiding.

Umm, I'll admit to riding by someone's house just to see if his car was outside, but that's it. I've never stalked anyone.
