There's a trend in recent years to re-release popular movies as 3D versions, or with extra extended scenes, or other tweaks and additions. Do you generally approve of these changes, or do you wish they'd just leave the original well enough alone?

Not really. I see it as just a money grab by the studios. I did not go see the 3-D re-release of Titanic.

In fact after being burned by that fony CG after-the-fact-added 3-D in Clash of the Titans, which had awful visuals in the close-ups, I have been leery of spending extra bucks to see bad special effects.

When given a choice I will see the 2-D version of the same movie because 3-D is a gimmick. You realize this when playing a video of a movie like the newest Journey to the Center of the Earth and see all those shots in 2-D that were obviously put in for the 3-D theater version.

I keep waiting for this new 3-D fad to die out just like it did in the '50s. If more ppl opt for the 2-D version instead of wasting money on useless gimmicks maybe the studio will stop. I did not even see Underworld Awakening in theater because they did not offer a 2-D version. Got the video and glad I did not waste an extra 4 bucks on it or support its theater release.

Some films need to be left as they originally were.

I've seen movies in 3-D & then the same one just the regular old way & can't say there's a substantial difference. Except for the cost which usually isn't worth it. It's an interesting effect for some movies like the Final Destination series but really like Shale said, it's just a gimmick.

Yeah you know what? If I DIDN'T pay to see a movie the first time I am NOT going to pay $3 more than it would already cost for the privilege of seeing it through tinted Buddy Holly glasses.

I hate unnecessary re-releases. 3D is no exception.

well, I saw Final Destination in 3D, and I enjoyed it... but i felt that there were not enough 3D scenes. However, what was incredible were the 3D previews of Disney's animated Mickey's Christmas Carol... it was unbelievable. The entire coming attraction was in 3D, and it was awesome. I dont know if it is easier to make the animated 3D, but I regret not going to see that in the theater.

The only movie that I regret seeing in 2D was My bloody valentine. I loved the original... and i wanted to see it in 3D.. but my bro talked me into believing it would suck--- which when i saw it later i was disappointed that i did not go see it afterall

Today I was also going to see GI Joe: Retaliation as my second movie of the weekend after Magic Mike. It is also staring Channing Tatum - and would have been two movies simultaneously released with the same actor.

But, it was not listed today.

Checked online and Wiki had this:

The film is scheduled for release on March 29, 2013. The movie was previously slated for release on June 29, 2012, but the date was changed, officially to add 3D and boost interest in international markets.

    Shit!

Not only do I have to wait almost another year but now have to hope they give a 2-D version of it or I will wait for the DVD to be in the cheap used bin. Added 3-D is just a rip-off.
