My New Car got Smashed into
Sunday I was in a parking lot, went in to the store came out 15 minutes later and some fucking asshole hit the bumper on my car near the back wheel. Its all crushed in and now I have to bring it in to be fixed thursday. This has never happened to me in my driving history, I never even had an accident either! Sucks!!!

Insurance will cover it, minus your deductable. If you know who did it, their insurance will pay for it all, including the deductable--at least that's how it is in Mass.
Bummer, though--I always seem to get rear-ended every time I buy a new vehicle, but on the bright side, at least you weren't in the car when it happened, and got injured.

Thanks HG yeah I am lucky I was not in the car because I probably would have gotten extremely angry at someone's stupidity. It was a hit and run.

Oh, damn man I'm sorry. Your new car?
At least it's insured.
Did you ever track down who it was that hit you? Maybe a surveillance cam captured it.
No didn't track them down, my insurance is covering it. Yep the new car.

Re: My New Car got Smashed into
Yeah, Tony--a fist fight isn't worth it, because they'd find a way to sue you for the whole thing; better to just get it fixed and move forward.
My crowing accident moment was the day before Christmas, 2009--I'd just bought a new Toyota Rav4 in July, to get me back and forth to Boston for chemo, then to radiation therapy which was to happen in the winter. I was coming home from radiation, on Christmas Eve, heading to pick my daughter up, and was sitting at a stand-still at a stoplight. Some pink haired 19 year old, slammed into me from behind because she was talking with her passengers and texting.
Luckily, the tire on the back of my truck, took all the impact and her car was totaled. She felt bad enough, too, that I didn't even have to pull my wig off and rub it in that she'd hit a cancer patient on the way home from treatment, but looking back, now, it might have been a little devious fun to have done that. LOL

Man, I am so sorry Tony. Chris beat me to the suggestion about seeing about any surveillance cameras.

You should have, shocked the hell out of the girl and maybe next time she will think before she takes her attention from the road. Good thing you were not injured.

Isn't that monumental piss off, and that it happened to your NEW car hurts even more. Someone is thinking they got away with it too, unfortunate! That would gall me more than the damage. Sorry, hopefully when repaired it will look new again.

Thanks Suzi, I think it should look as good as new when they replace the mashed in parts.

Re: My New Car got Smashed into
You cannot have a beloved car and still take it on the road full of asswipe idiots.
I had a '57 Chevy and overnight it was hit - smashed in one of those distinctive rear fins. I think that was the last car I allowed myself to like. I prefer driving ugly bent up klunkers where everyone thinks I'm about to plow into them.

It's annoying but be glad insurance is picking up the tab and that because it was a hit-and-run your premiums won't go up.

There's always the possibility (however unlikely) that whoever hit your car might not have known they did it.

That's one thing I did not mind about having an older car that had been beat to shit over the years. Unless someone broke a light, it ceased to be a big deal. Also maked merging into traffic easier.

Re: My New Car got Smashed into
Sorry to hear that tony, I know how you feel... my other mustang GT was hit twice while parked. One suggestion for you, we used to own an auto body shop, and i suggest you go over the estimate very carefully. Make sure that the parts list is all NEW parts, not aftermarket. The insurance companies like to put aftermarket parts on cause they are cheaper, but they are sorta like generics. They do not always fit perfectly, and no matter how hard you try, if the part is slightly off the factory size, there is no way to make it work. It is not up to the body shop, but the insurance company. So double check.
My 1996 GT was fully customized with 68k miles when it was 13yrs old. I babied it. One night i heard BAM! and when the neighbors all ran into the street, we examined our cars--- of course it was mine. It turned out to be a drunk driver coming from a neighbors, and hit me and fled the scene. When i found out who he was, he was arrested for not only hitting my car, but 4 of his neighbors' as well!
The same car the next year got totaled while parked in front of my mom's. This guy was on sleeping pills at 2:30pm on easter sunday!!! I almost beat the shit out of him!!! seriously... i call 911 and told them, "get here soon, im not responsible for anything that happens to him, cause he is trying to leave the scene!" lol should've punched him... he was too messed up to remember anyway! good luck

Thanks for the advice WTL I certainly will look over the estimate. Man you have no luck with cars if they are not floating down the street they are being hit by other cars. Someone must have put the evil eye on you. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Re: My New Car got Smashed into
Good idea uncle but we would end up in the slammer. Brought the car today to be fixed it could be ready saturday. They gave me a Toyota corolla, I could barely get in the car, is it made for midgets? My legs were so cramped in this car even with the seat pushed all the way back. Remind me to never get a corolla.
