The Amazing Spider Man

Anybody want my DVD of Spider-Man 2002 with Tobey Maguire & Kirsten Dunst? This reboot makes me wonder if I will ever put that one in the player again. Oh, the story of the new movie is just as fantastical and special effects are special effects - seen that before.
But, the new Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) is so much more believable as the nerdy, very intelligent, high school kid with some typical teen boy attitude that erases the character as played by Maguire. Also, instead of Mary Jane Peter is hesitantly enamored with this cute HS girl Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone) and the chemistry between the two really works.
This is a remake of the original Spider-Man beginnings with a little background of what happened to his parents to have him being raised by his Uncle Ben (Martin Sheen) and Aunt May (Sally Field). Just as in the original movie, Peter gets bitten by a genetically altered spider. This time he has snuck into a lab at OsCorp, where his father once worked with Dr. Curt Conners (Rhys Ifans) on genetically combining DNA of different species. Dr. Conners is trying to regrow his missing arm like a lizard regrows a new tail. Of course you know where that kinda research goes.
As you can tell, I really liked this movie just like the majority of aggregate reviews and audience surveys. I will likely see it again - I may even spring for the 3-D version. A lot of scenes you could tell were made specifically for 3-D.

(BTW - That offer of giving away the DVD was for dramatic effect only - you can't have my DVD. I may even watch it again before I get the DVD of this amazing Spider-Man movie).
