favorite fairytale from childhood? Empty favorite fairytale from childhood?

I remember I had this old really thick book (it almost looked like a family bible that is passed down from generation to generation). It had tons of fairytales in it.

In this book was the story of the little match girl that made me very sad. As a child, it depressed me, and i have often wondered as an adult why anyone would read/let a child read such a story.

Did you have a fav story?

If Cinderella is a fairy tale than that was my favorite. I used to read fairy tale books as a kid but I don't remember any of them.

I was into Dr. Seuss more than the Brothers Grimm. Some of our nursery rhymes supposedly have some pretty gruesome origins.

I can't remember if I had a favorite. I heard just about all of them though.

Growing up, my favorite Disney adaptation was always Pinocchio.

I remember liking Goldilocks and 3 Bears, also 3 little pigs.

    Are these fairytales?

Ring around the rosey is one.

It represents the bubonic plague... ring around the rosey (the red round sores that formed), pocket full of posies (people used posies (flowers) to cover up the stench of the rotting corspes, ashes to ashes we all fall down (the bodies were burned to prevent the plague from spreading).
