IDK how fresh out of kicking the habit, but my partner Jim was a junkie for a while. He kicked it cold turkey with the help of his family and never did anything but booze, grass, and cigarettes while we were together.

Done it. Dated a girl who had gotten out of a 6 month stint in rehab just two weeks before. Wasn't as much of an issue as I thought it would be. One thing about recovering addicts is that they are very honest about their lives. The night we met she was telling me all about her experience and hopes. I appreciated the candor.

NOPE! Too much drama, too much possibility. Even if they have been sober for years, they could relapse at any time, steal from you, and god only knows what else

I'd have to be actually presented with the situation to judge. Every person that's an addict is not a bad person and every addict does not relapse. If I really like the person, I'd more than likely give them a chance.
