Re: Are Vegetarians healthier?
Depends. Vegetarian meals can be super high in bad carbs. I've tried some. Maybe we have this stereotype that vegetarians only eat veggies, but I believe they can eat anything that isn't animal product of some sort, correct? That would mean bread and pasta are fair game. So while it's certainly possible that they will he healthier, I don't think it's by any stretch a given.

Re: Are Vegetarians healthier?
Probably.
Lots of variables and what an individual body can tolerate. There are Inuit who eat mostly raw meat and seem healthy. (IDK how the stats are on this). And there are vegetarians by the millions who seem to do OK in India.

You would think, but one of the Deschanel sisters pointed out there's no meat in French fries.

Their cholesterol levels may be better. But it's really hard to say with any certainty. So many other things factor into it that aren't so easily controlled. Between genetics & the environment I'm not convinced it's a given that vegetarians are always healthier.

Depends on what kind of "vegetarian" they are and what they eat.

Actually, my cholesterol levels were increasing as I aged. Being ovo/lacto vegetarian I realized that I consume a lot of milk. So went from 2% milk to Fat Free and the cholesterol came down. Also I only do one egg a day (which is 70% of daily cholesterol) instead of two.

Yeah, you can consume a lot of unhealthy vegetable fat and coconut oil even increases cholesterol

Re: Are Vegetarians healthier?
Not necessarily. Being a vegetarian is a lifestyle choice more than anything.

Re: Are Vegetarians healthier?
I don't think so. It all depends upon choices. I am a meat, dairy and egg eater and my cholesterol is just fine thank you very much and I am 66 years old. But I know vegetarians who have a high cholesterol count.
Lots of factors to factor in.
