What's your opinion of the term ‘Family Values?’ Do you think that the more stringent and conservative outlook of it has turned into into a negative connotation?

Re: ‘Family Values’
Of course the conservatives throw that overused and meaningless term around for their hypothetical version of some lily-white, suburban, GOD FEARING, scrubbed & deodorized, patriotic consumer, when in reality they are likely sneaking around on the down-low doing all the stuff that I do openly.
It is just a ploy, another version of US & THEM.

It's a political buzzword that I'm very suspicious of.

I agree, it also smacks of a holier than thou mentality, that indicates that the user think s/he is better than others.Alan Smithee wrote:It's a political buzzword that I'm very suspicious of.

Re: ‘Family Values’
I think that the wonky, liberal rebels are the only ones trying to turn it into negative connotation. I think it's as good a term as any other. It's not more meaningless than "being progressive" or "going forward." lol

For the most part. But I recognized that 'family values' isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Much like "traditional marriage". There's a tendency among a particular group who seem to believe they & they alone have "ownership" of certain things.
