HomeIt's so annoying. My neighbor is awful with this. I ask her little girl, "Who's on your shirt?" Neighbor, "A princess." Really? She does this all the time. I think that has potential to foster shyness in a child.

Yes. A friend of my wife's is like that with her daughter. If you ask that little girl anything, before the words come out of her mouth, the mother is speaking on her behalf. As parents, we've all seen our kids struggle to answer questions and feel compelled to help, but sometimes you need to let them learn how to speak for themselves.

They answer only when the child is having troubling replying themselves.
