Fruits are tricky because you have to know what's in season. Vegetables, I buy mostly broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, corn and tomatoes.

Gosh I buy a lot of fruit and veggies, fresh and frozen even some canned. We both grew up in households without freezers for most of our childhoods, so we prefer spinach and green beans canned still. Heck I still call the fridge an ice box. Thankfully we didn't live in the place with the pull chain or I would still be saying "don't forget to pull the chain". Most of you are too young to remember that the toilet tanks used to be up high on the bathroom wall and to flush it you pulled the chain. When we moved to an empty lot my folks pitched a large tent and built an outhouse, while they built the house. My uncle was still a teenager then and as an adult he remembered that time as one huge horror, I was 5 and a half I thought it was so neat! I suppose for a teen aged boy it was a problem with little to no privacy, but I didn't need privacy at that point.I was glad when we got indoor plumbing though because after my grandmother nearly sat on a snake I was always afraid something would come up the hole and bite me!
Well that drifted, so sue me I'm old and that is my excuse and I am sticking with it!

Hey Suzie, I remember having an ice box when I was a kid and outhouses IN ST. LOUIS!
For a vegetarian I do not buy too many veggies. I have a salad every day so Romaine and tomatoes are a staple, with occasional other things. I have canned green beans and peas in the cupboard and sometimes do a baked potato or a stuffed green pepper. Mostly I eat vegetarian lasagna after my salad.
My favorite fruit is banana.

We are meat eaters, but I also try to have a salad every day. All that green is supposed to be good for us. I cheat however and buy the already prepared in the bags because before I would buy lettuce and find it full of rust considering how expensive it was at the time I'd end up having to throw the lot away. Throwing a 5 dollar head of lettuce away really sucked! Too often the romaine had tiny little bugs. So now although lettuce is cheaper I like the convenience of the bagged stuff. I never have to worry about rust or bugs.Shale wrote:Hey Suzie, I remember having an ice box when I was a kid and outhouses IN ST. LOUIS!

Whatever my wife buys. I'll make a request every now and then. Like for that sweet cantaloupe I sliced up last night.
