Reactions to pregnancy

If you have any children, what was your and your child's other parent reaction to finding out you were having your first child and how did the rest of your family react to the news?

I was terrified, upset, crying hysterically. he was happy, boasting and smiling. Made me want to smack him... we were too young to know what it really entailed. I had a miscarriage, and was sooo relieved when it happened.. which sounds cruel, but i was really just too young.

my family was not happy about it either.

We wanted to start a family so we and everyone else was very happy.

I was mortified. We were both 19 in college and I'm gay. These things happen. Fortunately, we had full support from our families. Turns out, it was best thing that ever happened.

My partner Jim had a daughter & seems every other gay man I know has a kid.

i remember when my sis was preg for the first time.

She was 25, just got married, and had been with her hubby since she was 15. She was so excited but terrified to tell our mom. I remember hearing her in the bathroom telling our other sis about it. I thought it was stupid at the time that she was scared to tell mommy, but mommy is a scary person who once pulled a gun on a guy for getting one of her daughters pregnant... so i guess it was justifiable terror! LOL

We were just married and wanted to wait,but we didn't know about timing. The baby was welcomed by us and our families.

My daughter's mother called and dropped that bombshell on a Friday evening. I remember there was a long silence, then finally I asked her if she was certain. She was. Not only had she done a home pregnancy test, but she had gone to the doctor that morning and got confirmation. I was stunned and didn't tell my parents until she was two and a half months, and about two weeks before my high school graduation. They were pissed. The rest of my family was like 'were all the drug stores closed that night?'

I wasn't really a teen, in my early 20s when this girl I was shagging found out she was pregnant. It was more than likely mine, but I wasn't the only suspect. The pharmacist who introduced us might have still been seeing her.

Anyhow, this was in '68 New Orleans. Abortions were illegal. Peggy disappeared for about a week then wasn't pregnant anymore. IDK the story. I don't think she woulda flown to NY to get an abortion. I suspect she did it chemically and was probably sick as hell for that time.

As per the morals of the day I was prepared to take responsibility, which woulda been to marry a girl whom I had nothing in common with except fucking. I totally left the decision to her and asked her what we should do. Glad she took care of it the way she did. Otherwise we would have been co-parenting and either never married or divorced.

Damn. She couldn't wait until Sunday and not fuck up your weekend? At least you got a beautiful daughter out of the experience. Bet that cured your hiccups that night
