I still have the Benjamins my mother-in-law agve me as Christmas presents for the last 5 or 6 years. It goes in the "Alan Getting Into Trouble" fund.

A little of both. I buy things I want more than really NEED sometimes. But I don't want to get caught penniless either. That's actually come in handy a time or two.

I live a fairly frugal life so I accumulate money in the bank despite my small paychecks.
I keep a few thousand in checking and it is nice to have it when at the store and want to buy something extra, like yesterday got 6 DVDs for $60. (2 were new releases for $20 apiece)
So, I don't spend much but don't go without much either.
