Por que su habla in Español?

You know what? I find it annoying when ppl who are writing or speaking in a common language throws in a phrase or word in a foreign language. Even tho I often use Spanish terms that everyone here in South Florida knows I have to remind myself that on the Web not everyone uses these terms.

So, I know I should be more laissez faire about ppl using common foreign expressions that everyone knows, but one should not assume that every English speaking person reading an English text would know what these common expressions are.

    Just sayin'

At least my public education already taught me what "laissez faire" means (and I didn't need to take one French class) big grin .

Actually, the security guard just told me 'sabelotodo' means 'know-it-all' but the online dictionaries said 'smartass' which is often the same thing.

I think its funny when I'm at work, surrounded by Chinese, Filipinos, and Peurto Ricans... and they start speaking "Chinish, Tagalish, and Spanglish" respectively.

It's funny to hear them speaking from one language to the other... they claim it is because sometimes english words are easier to say for their meaning than trying to translate it into their language. Shrugs (Oh well…)

I do not mind when people speak/write what makes them comfortable, but I HATE that the signs in stores like Kmart/Sears are in Spanish. If I lived in Elizabeth or Newark with high spanish populations, I could understand. But believe me when I tell you that I only had like one hispanic family in my whole school system.

I'm always amazed at the Spanglish conversations - they both have to know every word in both languages or how do they know which word the other understands.

I have heard my Russky co-workers speaking long dialogue in Russian then a word like 'drycleaners' comes up. I asked them if they didn't have a Russian word for drycleaner and they said not as easy as the English word.
