What other first name(s) did your parents almost name you?

Are you happy with the one they ultimately decided on?

If (for whatever reason) you had to change your first name to something else, what would you choose? What else can you imagine yourself being called? - Seriously -

I was almost "Joanne" and I am so glad I don't have that name now. I did not like my real name when I was younger, but now that I am older I really like it. It is just one that it not often heard, and I did not appreciate the uniqueness in my youth and teens.

At first I wasn't, but I've grown to like my name.

Aw man, since back in the day, I used to hate my name....I've came up with several. I've thought of myself as a Yolanda or an Alexis or a Terri. I remember wishing I was a Lisa, Angela, Pamela or Renee because I used to have the biggest crush on LL. But I wouldn't change the name I have now. It's unique....even though I've met some people with the same one.

My mom wanted to name me Zoey. My dad wanted to name me Roberta (after his aunt).
Thank GOD neither choice was made.

If I had to rename myself, I don't know what I would go with. Maybe Jennifer or Tarah

My mom wanted to name me Sally of all things. I don't like my name but nothing I can do about it but if I could change it then it would be Natalie or Annie. Not many people do like their names no matter how nice a name they have.

I was almost Nathaniel, after my dad's father. At the last minute they settled on Jason.

Nope. Always hated my name, because it's too simple. I'm much too extravagant for four little letters, with only that one syllable....can't even derive a nickname from it. Just Marc.

Not sure. Maybe Michael or James or Joseph. Actually I would have been straight with Robert.

My first name is Stephen but I hate it. My middle name is Robert and that's why I call myself Robbie. I like it better. My mom said she and my dad fought over what to name me. She wanted to name me Aaron and my dad didnt like that. My dad wanted to name me Azeem Jr. (after him) but she didn't like that. How they settled on Stephen is a mystery to me. If I could rename myself I'd just make my middle name my first.

My mom said her original plan was to name me Danielle, but went with Nhaiyel (which, in part rhymes with it) when her grandmother died three weeks before I was born. My great grandmothers name was Nellie, she wanted to blend the two together.

When I was a little girl, I thought I had a weird name and would complain about it, but my mom would insist that my name has spiritual meaning and that I should revere having a unique (rather than common) name. After a while I got used to it.

My parents were gonna name me Brendan and I wish they had because it's cooler than what they went with = Andrew. My names is ok but not all that exciting either. If I were to change it, I would call myself something like Jordan or Aiden.

My father was on a western kick when I was born and was opting for "Tex" or "Duke" or "Wade". No, he didn't get his wade...ah, way. I like my name just fine but I think I would have liked a middle name too. My brother doesn't have one either. Don't know why.

My Mom once told me that if I were a girl that I would have been named Gabriella. She named me Anthony because I was supposed to be born in June and named after St. Anthony (June being the month of St. Anthony) . I came a month early in May and she kept the name and I like it. If I had to choose my own name it would be Michael or Christopher.

I'm pretty happy with my name, I've never really had a problem with it. At a time when my Mom was my pregnant and my parents were unsure if I would be a boy or a girl, if I was going to be a girl my Mom wanted to name me Chloe. My father completed objected to that! And if I was going to be a boy, my father wanted to name me Emmanuel or "Manny". My Mom said "No child of mine is going to be named Manny!"

Sorry Chris, I forgot to answer your last question! If I had to choose a different first name I would name myself something like Mary or Grace or Sofia or Ava.

I was supposed to be named after my uncle Robert, whom my grandmother called Bobby. But somehow on the birth certificate they actually wrote "Bobbie." OK, cute for a little boy, but most men don't spell their name like that and for a mature male signature, Bobbie just doesn't do it.

I did change it when I was in the Air Force to Robert and now go by Rob (or Shale)
