    Hurricanes and tornadoes notwithstanding, do you get high winds in your area?

    We just had 2 days of 40 mph winds and the result was two freezing cold days in the midst of a 60-70 degree averaged week. One woman who was not from around here commented the winds we had yesterday, where she comes from, is like the precursor to a hurricane.

    Not really. The winds are sometimes higher but it's rare that they're so strong that it causes much damage or is talked about on the news.
