Pink Eye

I think I might be coming down with a case of Pink Eye. Yesterday I noticed that my left eye was redder than usual and felt a little sore. Then later in day I kept tearing up and when I go to the restroom to look at it, I notice some whiteish buildup around the pupil. I wash out my eye, thinking that that was that, but later on when I got home that same buildup was back and my eye was redder and glassier. This morning when I woke up, both of my eyes were red and had build up, but the left one remains worse. My vision is slightly blurred, but it always is in the morning, so that's nothing new.

I looked on the Internet for some quick fix remedies, and the best one I could come up with to put a warm compress over it for ten minutes periodically. Hopefully that works. If not, then I'll try some Clear Eyes, and go to the doctor. I really not in the mood for this though.

Has anyone else had Pink Eye before?

If you have insurance the doc is really your best way to go Chris. But I had it recently & used the Visine Allergy drops. It cleared up but it wasn't fun. A prescription eye drop med will take care of it a lot faster.

I have had it and the best thing is to go to the doctor, he will give you an antibiotic drop to put in your eye and within a couple of days you will be fine. Wash your hands often, its highly contagious, especially around the baby and your wife.

Thanks CeCe and Tony. I'm gonna wait the weekend out and see if it might just be a random infection that clears itself up. If I'm not better by Monday, then I'm going to the doctor.

Tony gave good advice about being careful around the baby. It is so easy to catch, if it is pink eye. If they keep "gunking" up through the day today, you most likely do have it.

I used to get it a lot as a kid and as an adult thought I had it, but only because my eyes were gunky in the morning and then just glassy during the day. The couple times it was like that, I actually did not have pink eye.

Yes, the baby is a real concern here. Even though I'm off today, my wife went ahead and took him to the sitter before she went to work. Whatever this is, we don't want him to catch it.

The only time I ever had pink eye is when I caught it from Ally when she was much younger. As others have already told you Chris, get thee to the doctor.

I've never had pink eye myself, but I hope it clears up for you!

You sure it's supposed to be a warm compress? When I had pink eye, I was told to put a cold compress over it. I would think warm would actually irritate the eye. It really depends on what type of pink eye you have. If it's viral, then Visine and compresses will help and it'll go away by itself after like a week. If it's bacterial, then you may need prescription drops.

I had it once when I was a kid....but didn't have any pus or gunk coming out of my eyes. It cleared up on its own in about 4 days.

Never had Pink eye. When we were kids, my sister had it and my parents sent me to stay with my grandparents for a week to avoid catching it. If this is indeed what you have Chris, then I hope you make a speedy recovery.

^ Hey Red. Yeah, while not one hundred percent sure, I've come to the conclusion that it has to be some kind of conjunctivitis (pink eye.) My eyes look terrible and feel worse. Gonna see about going to the doctor tomorrow.

Make sure you change your pillow cases too. Feel better.

That's right. Forgot about that. Towels too. That stuff can spread like crazy.

Saw the optometrist yesterday. Turns out that it was a form of Pink Eye and it was caused by exposure to bright light. As it is, I already have sensitive eyes and last week I was working under several overbearing lights and lamps. Basically burned by corneas. Now, as a result I have to have surgery to clear up my vision and to clear out the puffiness that it caused.

Holy Shit! I'm so sorry Chris.

That's terrible, Chris. I hope it all works out o.k. Is the surgery performed by an opthalmologist?
