My favorite adult was Auntie K. She is amazing and I am so happy my son has had the privilege to know her as well. She treats everything like a fun event. Just so amazing and fun and loving.

I had a great aunt in Mississippi, who had lived in Louisiana and New Orleans and she was cool.
We used to talk all the time when I would walk down to her house. She told me how it was when she was a kid and seemed to understand adolescent boys. She gave me and my cousins a Picayune cigarette that she smoked (a particularly harsh New Orleans cigarette - she knew we boys couldn't handle it). Used to do wheelies on the gravel road in a '53 Chevy, which really impressed us. You had to have been there and seen her in her coveralls and bonnet to appreciate the dicotomy.

Aunts are popular. Mine was my Aunt Geneieve. She was single and a kind of a swinger. She dated nice men, went on trips, had beautiful clothes and jewelry. She had a neat parakeet who talked. She worked as a secretary in the Merchandise Mart in Chicago which was way cool.
