I mostly pay mine within a couple weeks of their due dates. But I really need to get into the habit of doing all utilities at one time.

Do you pay your bills throughout the month per their due dates or all at one time?

I drop off the rent sometime of the week before the end of the month (for the upcoming month). The other bills my wife pays or we have automatic payment. We haven't had anything turned off yet.

About three of my bills get paid automatically and I get an e-mail. Others I mail in the check as soon as the bill arrives. I usually pay rent a week early - but they don't cash it until all the procrastinators get theirs in.

I usually pay within a week of their due date and sometimes even on the due date.

my last check of the month pays my rent... the other check pays everything else... so it all gets paid when i have money.. not when they are due. screw'em they can wait a few days.

Yeah but be careful about that because can't paying bills late lower your credit score? If you don't have the funds, you don't have the funds. Just saying.

Not paying will be a harder hit than paying late. But yeah if it's not there it's not there. You do that you end up with overdraft fees which are even worse. I try to not let it be more than a day or two if I can help it when I'm in that spot.

AT&T has a cutoff date and after that the bill is higher. They put both figures on the bill and more than once I have paid the higher amount, which means they have to waste their computer's time giving me a credit on the next bill. (might even be a human involved to sign off)
Now I watch for it, but maybe I'll just pay the higher one to bug them.

Do you get junk mail that includes pre-paid return envelopes? The company only pays the postage if it's returned (isn't that right W2L?). So often I send back the ones for credit cards. Empty of course.

paying late only shows up on your credit report if you are at least 30 days late. All that hype of "due date" is bullshit scare tactic.
I used to have all of my bills come out automatically until i spent a couple months in the hospital--as a federal employee im not entitled to state disability and got no pay. So there was no money. Not all of the creditors would stop the automatic bill pay from coming out, and freaking Bank of America doubled my "minimum payment" each month. After four months of being in the hospital my "minimum payment" that they were taking out was over $700 and it caused my mortgage payment to bounce. I fought with them for years because I paid an extra $50 a month for "protection of loss of job, hospitalization...etc" and they refused to honor it. After years--- they took the $4000 bill to $15,000... and after fighting with them, not only did they have to accept the original $4000.... but then they even financed $25k on my car--- they are fucked up! lol

The more important bills, I pay as soon as I get the notice. The more frivolous things, I'll make casual payments throughout the month, fifty here, seventy there. That usually shuts them up.
