How much is a loaf of bread where you are? We don't buy the cheapest stuff made but we DO buy generic, it's better than most, for the past few months it has been at an all time high price of $1.90 a loaf, TODAY, it is $2.20 a loaf and the cheapest of all cheap is gone, and so are the cheapest hamburger and hotdog buns, which were also very good. The second generic brand is left, but 30 cents higher a pack than they were two days ago. I don't know if it's a coincidence that this is happening when all the Wonder bread and buns are being yanked off the shelves but it is weird as hell.

Re: Bread
SN you made me realize I have no clue how much the bread I buy costs? I don't buy white bread, I buy wheat bread, Home Pride because it is always fresh and tastes good. Also I don't like the store brand Italian Bread, it is usually light as a feather and it goes stale the same day. I buy a bakery brand which is delivered to the store which is fresh and weighs more and tastes better. How much does it cost? I am clueless I have no idea. I am curious now next time I shop I am going to check those prices.
Maybe they hiked up the price of bread because of the coming holiday, price goughing LOL

Here your brand is $3.25 a loaf. We get the split top wheat, though white is alright once in a while so long as it isn't that cheap sandwich crap, which unfortunately most of it is that is affordable.

As much as we eat, we'd never be able to afford that on a regular basis.

Re: Bread
I haven't bought bread in years so I wouldn't know. I don't eat bread at home, only when eating out.

Re: Bread
We found out today from one of the men who works at the store that the bread, which has just gone up to $2.20 a loaf, is going to be discontinued soon because it seems that that company is ALSO owned by Hostess, and it's going to be replaced by a new and more expensive kind. This is getting ridiculous.

Re: Bread
A loaf of good bread here is running upwards to 5 bucks. I like the less good bread, it is about 3 to 4 bucks a loaf. I don't eat much bread so a loaf lasts me a couple of months in the freezer.

Re: Bread
Aldi white bread is less than a buck a loaf. I like that for white bread because it freezes the best out of the store brands here.

Re: Bread
I rarely spend more than $3 a loaf. Doesn't matter what bread. I buy whatever's on sale.
