    K-8 or K-5? Empty K-8 or K-5?

Which do you think is the more preferable public school system:
Kindergarten through grade five (with grades six, seven and eight having their own separate middle school/building) or is kindergarten through grade eight fine?

I don't have much of a strong opinion either....but I think K-5, then junior high, then high school is fine.

I think it works best when kids go to a separate jr. high, I think. However, not all areas are large enough to have it set up in that way. Where I went to high school, they had all the grades in one building.

I guess since I did pre k-5, then 6-8 in middle school and 9-12 in high, that makes the most sense to me. After a certain age, preteens don't want to share the same space with 5 year olds anyway. They throw up in the hallway too much.

I think separate is better. Though I did my student teaching in a school where it was k-12, but it had different programs. The IA was k-6, Prewalkabout was 7-9th, and walkabout was 10-12th. VERY different programs, but the prewalkabout and walkabout are often combined. Like my standard English class was prewalkabout, but my electives were open to prewalkabout and walkabout.
