A father's Facebook page is in question in a child-support battle and thousands of dollars are on the line. The man at the center of a Milwaukee felony child-support case said his posts are being taken out of context by the district attorney's office.
In one photo, Willie Moore can be seen holding cash with the message "Betcha baby daddy ain't jackin like this."
"That could be my uncle's money. That could be my auntie's money. I'm just taking my picture with it," Moore said.
Prosecutors are using the photo as evidence that Moore can afford to pay his child-support bills.
"It could be anybody's cash. I just took a picture with it. Just to play around or something, you know," Moore said.
Krista Bethe is the mother of Moore's 6-year-old daughter and she said she's not surprised the district attorney's office is using the posts.
"It's a public page. It's not like he has it private or anything. So it's not like he's trying to hide it," Bethe said. "He has money. I know he does. I've seen it."
The DA's application for a search warrant indicates that Moore claims to be unable to pay child support because he is "an African-American male living in poverty."
Investigators also point to another Facebook post by Moore they say depicts a painting of him in front of Buckingham Palace.
"A Europe vacation? That was an app. You can paste your picture anywhere you want to put it at," Moore said.
Moore said the court's not letting him see his daughter. He doesn't have a fulltime job and doesn't have the money to pay the thousands the state is demanding.
"I'm looking for work. Right now I'm working with my cousin. He's an independent contractor," Moore said.
Bethe claims the whole thing is just a game.
"I mean, this is nonsense right here. He can't find a job. I just found a job. They were hiring 200 people," Bethe said.
Moore has a hearing on the case scheduled for Wednesday morning.
