Casting spoilers - UGH!

Just read on SOC that Maura West will be taking over the role of Diane Jenkins after ATWT goes off the air. I couldn't STAND Carly back when i watched ATWT. I tried a few times and could never stand her character. the longest stint was when Sarah Brown was on the show. I watched for most of her storyline but finally quit in disgust because I couldn't stand Carly and had no interest in the show beyond Sarah. Carly was one of the characters I hated most - so shrill and just horrible. I don't know if she was better at other times, but from what I saw, I hated Carly and I didn't care for the way Maura played her.

I don't know to much about this person but I do know the old Diane and when you get used to an actor, the replacement is hard to take. I guess it take some getting used to.

I found her to be VERY harsh on ATWT. She has this platinum blonde hair at the time that just did not look natural and the character she played was... well - she came off as a total bitch. I couldn't stand her ATWT character but it's hard to know if it's how the character was played or if it's the writing.

I found her to be very whiny, too. It was hard to know because of the storyline, but I LOVED Sarah Brown so I was sympathetic toward her character and really liked Julia and her little boy, JJ. I hated the way Carly was - how vicious and vindictive. I didn't watch ATWT much past Julia's death, though, so I can't say if it was the way Maura played Carly or Carly herself that I didn't like.

The only CBS soaps that I watch are Y&R and B&B so I don't know to much about any of the other characters that play on the other two soaps.

I only watched ATWT for a bit- while Sarah Brown was on and then back when some of the AW characters crossed over. I also watched GL on and off over the years.

I also thought the last guy that played Michael on GH was going to be Nick and Sharon's son on Y&R but I see on the front of SOC that they have cast someone else.

Yeah - I heard they'd gone with a newbie - wonder if they wanted to take the character in a certain direction and wanted a fresh face for it.
