Yep, and I've found many ways to play him, over the years, so I can live life and not deal with his insecurities, hang ups, and occasional warped sense of reality. He's better now than in the past, but I also don't put up with bullshit the way I did 20 years ago, either.

I am currently single, but both my long term SO were not controlling or so insecure. I wouldn't stay in such a relationship.

In her way. Not blatantly, but my wife's analytical passive-aggressiveness is killer. She knows how to manipulate the situation in her favor, while making it seem like she's stepped back and that the choice is yours.

He tends to want to know some of those things, but he isn't controlling about it. He's just interested.

I've dealt with a couple of nosy ones, but not to the point of being overbearing about it. They already know they can't control me, so it would be a waste of time to try.
