Going on my freshman year of high school. Booty Call sdtrk. It was a cool song. "Release Some Tension" was a solid album from SWV. Too bad it was their last good album.

Didn't care for this song, and at this point, wasn't checking for SWV anymore.

I remember when this was out with the Booty Call soundtrack. This was when Missy, Tim, Aaliyah, Ginuwine and 'em were blowing up big in early '97 with that sound, and many of the people I went to high school with at the time were all over this song, like it was hot to death…but I'm with you, I never much cared for it. I thought this, and that SWV album that came later in year with "Someone" and "Lose My Cool," was on the forgettable side. It just sounded like a random bone Timbaland and Missy threw at them while they were in demand and being sought after.
I liked SWV's debut album, but their second album wasn't as good and the third was even worse. Coko apparently felt the same way and said that because she thought that their later songs were becoming half-assed, she only half sang them.

Hmm...tough crowd. I loved it. I rather enjoyed that whole Release Some Tension era. After all that is the album that gave us "Rain" and that is my favorite SWV song even over Weak.

That's one of my faves from them too. RST was a pretty solid album. The title track was good too. They just went downhill from there....although I did like the first single from their last release.

"Rain" was really the only decent song on the album though, but it was no "Weak" or "Downtown". From what I remember said about it, RST (along with that Xmas album that came after) was basically a "contractual obligation" album that their record label forced them to quickly record because their second album that came out just the year before didn't do as well as their first. The members weren't feeling it and everything really fell apart for the group during that whole era.
