A Christmas favorite on MANY channels every year, but this to me is not a Christmas movie, not a Christmas tradition, I love Frank Capra and I love James Stewart, but I saw this movie once several years ago and that was enough for me.

I didn't like it (the ending anyway) when I first saw it years ago because I thought Old Man Potter got away with it. As I got older I realized I was wrong about the ending. I love the triva that in one scene where Uncle Billie (Thomas Mitchell) is a little tipsy and when he walks off camera we hear the clatter of trash cans as if he's stumbled into them. In reality, a stage hand had dropped something but Mitchell and Stewart kept going with the scene with Mitchell ad libbing, "I'm alright, I'm alright."
