Question Should the Aurora Movie Theater Have Reopened?

    Post by Marc™ Mon Jan 21, 2013 2:58 am

The Aurora movie theater (where the Dark Knight Rises shootings took place last summer) reopened....and some are outraged.

Do you think the theater should have reopened or stay closed?

Eh, I'm not adamant about either option, but I think it should be opened...all while turning it into a memorial of some sort.

closing it does two things: 1.) shows us that we as a people will allow domestic terrorists to permanently affect our lives 2.) it puts more americans out of jobs in a bad economy.

The american spirit longs to rise like a phoenix from the ashes of tragedy. We rebuild, we conquer, we thrive. We rebuilt New Orleans after the hurricane, we rebuilt the 9/11 site.... i dont know of us closing any schools or colleges where shooters attacked---Virgina Tech is still open right? so WHY ppl are demanding a movie theater is closed i dont understand. ppl are so screwed up. want to protest about something or at least bring attention to it... how about child abuse... how about trying to promote job growth in this terrible economy... there are so many causes that could do some good. be productive ppl! Sad & tragic as it is we can't close every building or shut down a business everytime something happens. There needs to be a respectable timeframe & as much as I hate clichés, life does go on. I do think it was in poor taste for the theater to invite the survivors & families of the dead to their "grand re-opening" event.

I-10 out of New Orleans over the years has killed many more ppl in its infamous fog shrouded multiple car pileups. Perhaps we should close that down.

Certainly makes more sense than closing places just because killers targeted it.

Seems to me keeping it closed and condemned would be a constant sore reminder of what happened. Reopening it helps to allow life to move on.

I don't believe in letting crooks really have the satisfaction of keeping it closed.

the theater inviting them could have gone either way.... if they didnt invite them, then the press would have been, "The families of the victims needed that invitation to move on with their lives and tell society that the families are persevering." but they invite them to say, "Let's move on as a society" and they get backlash... damned if u do, damned if u dont.

I don't think they should have even done a "grand reopening" or made it the event they did. Just open, run the movies & stfu.
