NO! The CDC is not too bad, just err on the side of overreaction but the FDA is basically a political entity that has abandoned science to push their unfounded bias.
The FDA is the reason gay men cannot donate blood, even if they have no disease and do not engage in hi risk sexual behavior. Everyone thinks this is ludicrous and basically just discrimination. Everyone except the bigots at the FDA.

Re: The FDA and CDC
That is just crazy shale... and i honestly did not even know that until i read it on this site when i joined up! So thanks for the tidbit of info. crazy shit
I lost all respect for the CDC years ago when i found an ebola sample in the mail at work... with no special precautions. Did it say "infectious disease" YES. But it was not even sent thru express mail which is sorted manually... so they put it on a machine that is 20ft in the air, then drops the mail down... and i found it under 500 pounds of mail. it was CRAZY and i got so upset that i left and went home cause the stupidvisor was not listening to how dangerous the package was.
The FDA is infact a bogus entity. How can they research drugs for years, give approval, then after 10yrs of drug tests and 5yrs of being on the market... wind up pulling a drug for side effects? that is crazy. they protect no one.

So, a lethal, infectious disease coulda been released on a population requiring a team in hazmat suits to clean up the bodies?
As for the stupidvisor, I woulda been yelling so loud about it someone over him woulda heard me. When I worked in the hospital we had what was called a 'variance report' for anything seen outside the standards of infection control. You did not need a supervisor to write it or approve it and quite frankly we in Central Supply often wrote them for things like finding used tape being put back on the shelf. (Save a few pennies in supplies, lose millions in nosocomial infection lawsuit).
Someone should push to institute that in the Post Office, for all our protection.

I take what they as advisory in nature not the gospel truth. Reforms to both do need to be made but I don't want to go back to the days conditions that Upton Sinclair described in The Jungle.

No. The CDC has virtually ZERO credibility as far as I'm concerned. They have been known to make official recommendations based on heavily faulty studies that essentially endorses quackery! And people "believe" what they say simply because they are the CDC.

I kid you not... when i told him what it was, he told me "put it on the shelf over there"--- the shelf that had everyone's personal items and lunch bags!!! SO i cleaned off the shelf.. moved everyones belongings... and called the hazmat team (which is made up of regular employees that are SUPPOSED to have special training in cleaning up and handling of substances). Then an employee came around the corner and threw him back pack right on top of the box!!!! I FLIPPED out and left! the supervisor said i was overreacting.. i was like, "fuck you all.. you can all die, im gone"

I take their conclusions at face value and act accordingly. Do I believe that their accounts are completely accurate? No, but I'm not such a cynic that I totally dismiss them.

I heard someone say that you can't donate blood either if you take an AIDS test and it comes back negative, what the hell?
