Have you ever experienced a sore throat after having drank a lot amount of water? Every time I go to the gym and guzzle from a water bottle becomes sore, when I get home and eat, it kills. This only happens when I drink a considerable amount of water. My wife suggested that it might be because it's tap water, often from the drinking fountains at the gym. Who knows. What I do know is that I could barely eat dinner tonight because of my sore throat.

Never had that happen but I do wonder about the large amounts of water. Is this all the time or only when working out? Because if you're drinking a lot of water all the time, you might need to get that checked.

Chris, does this only happen with water that comes from the gym?

I used to drink water like John Belushi would drink Jack Daniels, never happened with me, but it could be the tap because we've got reverse osmosis.

Never happened to me either. Is the water your drinking very cold? If so try drinking water at room temperature after your workout.

Have you tried taking your own water & not using the water from the fountain at the gym? Wondering if there's some chemical thing going on.

Yea, I was going to suggest bringing his own bottled water.

are you using a resusable bottle? there have been studies that if you use a plastic bottle (like a soda/gatorade bottle) and keep refilling it, bacteria builds up in it. only bottle that are produced for re-use should be used.

If it is only happening at the gym, i would suggest that you inform the manager and have them test the water. There was a problem with our drinking fountains at work. some sewage pipes burst, and somehow bacteria got into the water fountains... it took months for them to re-install new ones

Never heard of that. Your water might be contaminated.
